The Berkeley Chess School is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to sharing the joys and wonders of chess with as many young people as possible through instruction in the schools and tournament play.

Summer Camp 2008
Come to BCS summer chess camp! We will offer six one-week sessions in Berkeley and weekly sessions throughout the East Bay. We also offer a full-day option. Read all about it!

2nd Annual Alameda Tournament a Success!
Over 30 chess students competed in the 2nd Annual BCS City of Alameda chess tournament, representing seven schools. Special thanks to St. Philip Neri for donating its auditorium for the tournament.

The top three schools were Chinese Christian School, St. Philip Neri, and St. Joseph's.

The top ten students finished with at least 2.5 points out of 4.0. Special congratulations go to Andrew Wan who had the only perfect score.

BCS Wins Grants To Help East Bay Kids

Thanks to support from the Trio Foundation, the Y. & H. Soda Foundation and the Morris Stulsaft Foundation, The Berkeley Chess School has been able to offer a fourth year of the BCS First Moves Program, our chess outreach program for young East Bay children.
