The Berkeley Chess School
The Berkeley Chess School is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to sharing the joys and wonders of chess with as many young people as possible through instruction in the schools and tournament play.

2nd Annual Alameda Tournament a Success!
Over 30 chess students competed in the 2nd Annual BCS City of Alameda chess tournament, representing seven schools. Special thanks to St. Philip Neri for donating its auditorium for the tournament.
The top three schools were Chinese Christian School, St. Philip Neri, and St. Joseph's.
The top ten students finished with at least 2.5 points out of 4.0. Special congratulations go to Andrew Wan who had the only perfect score.

The Young Queens and Kings of Chess
Chess is on the rise in LaMorinda.
Lamorinda (the collective name for the East Bay towns of Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda) is home to a growing number of young chess players, both girls and boys.
