Testimonials from Parents
Thank you for giving my son & his cousin the opportunity to experience your program. They definitely walked away with skills they can use for a lifetime!
On behalf of my daughter, I would like to thank everyone there for the tournament. My daughter had a great time. The experience was marvelous. She came home even more excited and determined about playing chess. Thanks so much for all of your hard work and tremendous effort! The event will remain with each and every child for the rest of their lives! Many, many thanks!
We thank you for organizing such a wonderful tournament for the girls. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the day. You made such an effort to make the day a success and we appreciate it.
She began the day less than enthusiastic about the tournament and the game of chess itself. She didn't have much confidence in her chess abilities. However, when she came home from the tournament, she was ecstatic and could not stop talking about her day. She immediately wanted to challenge her mother or father in yet another game. This day was a turning point for her and we thank you.
I've seen my son mature from an introverted, socially awkward boy to a confident young man, largely through his involvements in chess. Through BCS he found a group with which he could identify and feel comfortable, he developed confidence and self-esteem, he became part of a team, and he found a best friend.
Every year for their birthdays, my sons each select a recipient to benefit from a collection of donations. This year we decided to make a positive impact in our local communities, and that is exactly what your chess program does. We are grateful that our boys have access to this wonderful program and we are pleased that you are extending that access to those who might not otherwise participate. Thank you for all the work you do for our children.
I'm just writing to thank you for all the work you've done to involve kids in chess: the school-year classes, tournaments, summer camps, etc. My son has benefited a lot from all these things, and it's been a real pleasure watching his progress.
Just a note to thank you for your grand effort and success with the annual chess tournament. Having it double in size was a tribute to your dedication and enthusiasm for scholastic chess. All of our children benefit so much from the program you have created and grown.

Kudos on a job well done!
I wanted to let you know that my appreciation for you, your program, and the great teachers you find, was renewed last weekend when my child earned his second place trophy at the CalChess State Championships. He worked hard for it, and so have you.... You give of your time, energy and talents so generously and inconspicuously. Let me remind you that many of the families benefiting from your work are deeply grateful....

BCS student Aaron Wilkowski ponders his college choices. Aaron was accepted into both CalTech and MIT.
"I have been thinking a lot about the part chess played in helping Aaron succeed. Chess helped to build his problem solving skills and beyond that I know that it helped build in a resiliency that both Caltech and MIT look for in students - students who understand what failure is and put failure to good use.
We both know that chess has been a very important part of his success and want to thank you."
