BCC Tournament Rules
USCF rules will be followed and enforced for all rated BCC tournament games. In the interest of providing each player with a pleasant evening of chess we are posting the following Berkeley Chess Club tournament rules.

To Play

Every player must register with the tournament director, in the tournament room (Room 11) by 6:50 pm each Friday that you play. If you do not do so, you will not be paired.
Exception: If you know you are going to be late, call us (510-843-0150) by 6:45pm - preferably before - and we will pair you but your opponent will start your clock at the start of the round.
If you call or email and fail to appear, you will be dropped from the tournament and you will forfeit your entry fee.
If you arrive late without notifying us, we will attempt to get you an extra-rated game.
Every player must pay the entry fee at the start of the tournament.
Every player must be a current USCF member from the start and through the end of the tournament. You can join on their website, uschess.org.
In the case of a dispute, the tournament director's decision is final.

Byes
The odd man (lowest ranked player) will receive a one-point bye.
A player may receive one half-point bye per tournament if requested in advance.
No byes are given for the last round.

Score sheets
Score sheets are the property of the tournament director.
Each player must turn in a score sheet.
You are required to keep score unless you have less than 5 minutes left on the clock in either preferred method of time control (increment or time delay).
We will post games on the BCS website.

Clocks
Players may use increment or time delay as the preferred method of time control. Both players must understand how to operate the clock no matter which time control system is used.

Thank you for helping us create a workable and pleasant atmosphere for Berkeley Chess Club. Please give us your contact information.
