All-girls-header
Berkeley Quad March 2011

The Berkeley Chess School held their March Quad tournament on Saturday. There was tough competition throughout the tournament and many great games were played! Brothers, Lev and Luka, took home the trophies from their respective quads.

Throughout the day, Roger taught students about moves that might have benefited their games or might help them defeat a future opponent.

Zachary Stevens played against Nathan Yuen in round 3, which ended up being our best game!

The opening sequence is something to pay close attention to. Zachary moves up in material and then continues to exchange pieces with his opponent until finally he is in a commanding position to take his opponents king. Well played Mr. Stevens!

Many thanks go out to our teen volunteers; Tommy and Alexander! Of course the tournament could not have been run as smoothly as it had without our extremely helpful parent volunteers; Selvi and Sue! Thank you all who attended.
