The BCS summer chess camp begins its 18th summer in Berkeley. There will be chess instruction at a minimum of four levels: Novice, Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced and Advanced. The program includes daily instruction and play, plus tournaments, prizes and a T-shirt. New material will be presented during each week of camp.

Cost for the program is $205 per week for regular classes and $255 per week for master classes.

FULL DAY OPTION: This summer we will again offer an optional all-day program. The camp will offer sports and art programs in the morning and chess in the afternoons. Cost for the full-day program is $335 per week for regular classes and $385 per week for master classes.

The camp offers six one week sessions: June 16-20, June 23-27, June 30 - July 3 (four days only, half day $165 / full day $270), July 7-11, August 4-8, and August 11-15. Morning drop off is from 8:00am to 9:00 am, evening pickup is from 5:00 to 5:45pm. The chess-only camp is from 1pm to 5pm.

Tournaments: There will be a Bughouse tournament on June 20th for all enrolled students (pizza provided) and a Summer Quad on July 12th open to all.

Master Classes: This year two special guest instructors will visit the Berkeley Chess School to teach our highest level "Master Class". International Master Irina Krush will visit the Berkeley Chess School to teach during the first week of camp, June 16-20. BCS alumnus David Pruess will teach the Master Class during the fifth week of camp, August 4-8.

Students must be approved by the Berkeley Chess School before enrolling in the Master Class. Students should have a USCF rating of 1000 or higher, or be recommended by their chess instructor.

Cost of master classes: Cost is $255 per week for half-day camp and $385 per for full-day camp.

Each class is limited to 20 students and will be filled according to the date the registration form is received.
