Tournament Results Moved to New Location on the Website!
The tournament results for the Berkeley Friday Night Scholastic tournaments, the Walnut Creek Friday Night Scholastic tournaments and the Orinda Advanced Tuesday Night Scholastic tournaments have been moved to a new, easier to find location on the website. You can simply click on tournaments at the top of the website and all of the tournament results will be listed on the left hand side of the website. If you have any questions, comments, or general inquires about the tournaments, please contact: email@example.com.
Berkeley, Walnut Creek and Orinda tournament results online!
For the students who play in the Berkeley Friday Night Scholastic Tournaments, you can now view your results online! The results will be updated every Monday morning and will stay current right up until your next game the following Friday. You can find the result here. The cross-tables can also be found under Our Programs and then Friday Night Chess and then Berkeley Friday Night Tournament Results! For the Walnut Creek Friday Night Scholastic tournaments, you can either click here , or follow the same steps to the Berkeley Results, but follow the Walnut Creek Friday Night Tournament Results link! Orinda Advanced Tuesday will be live as soon as the tournament begins.
GM Sam Shankland at the World Cup!
Four US players, reigning US Champion Gata Kamsky, GM Alexander Onischuk, GM Alexander Ivanov and the Berkeley Chess School Alumni, GM Sam Shankland, remain in the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. Sam completed his upset over GM Peter Leko when the 2700+ GM offered him a draw in a worse position, clinching Sam's ticket to round two. More news to come of the Berkeley Chess School Alum. Everyone back home is rooting for you Sam!

Mayor Jean Quan Helps Launch 4th Year of Berkeley Chess School’s Outreach Program for Five Title 1 Schools in Oakland
On Friday, August 5, 2011, Mayor Jean Quan launched year 4 of the Berkeley Chess School’s Outreach program by drawing the names of the Title 1 Oakland classrooms that will participate in the program during the 2011-2012 school year. The event was covered by The World Journal and three TV news networks, KTVU-Channel 2, KGO TV-Channel 7, and KRON-Channel 4. More on this story...
