All Girls Spring 2007
for March All Girls Tournament
They arrived on the day of the tournament, 50 strong, ready to play their hardest and make new friends. Can competition and friendship go together? It can when it's the twice-annual BCS All Girls Tournament.
The Upper Section was made up of twenty 4th-8th graders. These girls are veterans at this point and were able to play five rounds. No one was able to finish with a perfect score with only Julia Rosenberg heading into round five with a 4-0 score. Claire Wong had Julia's number this time though, so we ended with four girls at 4.0 out of a possible 5.0. Kylin Poropat was first on tiebreak points, followed by Julia Rosenberg, Claire Wong, and Emily Sun. Selena Wong won the fifth place trophy with an easy tiebreak advantage over all the other 3.0s, considering she had lost only to the #1 and #2 finishers.
Grade winner trophies went to Maral Bat-Amgalan, Jennifer Li, Uma Casey and Mariel Rosenberg.
The lower division had over thirty students and going into the fourth and final round, there were four perfect scores. When the dust had settled, we had two perfect scores. Adrielle Thorenfeldt scored 4.0, defeating Jessica Pena in the final round. Ella Hoffman also beat everyone seated before her, scoring the win against Esha Bajaj in the fourth round.
Besides those four girls, Diana Ren won the fifth place trophy. Grade trophies were won by Maya Payne-Schomaker, Victoria Parker, Sasha Schtein, and Sydney Lewis.
