All Girls Fall 2006

Spirited Matches Rule the Day in 11th Annual Event (See Photos from the Event)

Forty-five girls descended on Hillside School the Saturday before Thanksgiving, eager to show off their chess skills. They showed off great spirit and sportsmanship all day. BCS is thankful to have such wonderful girls in our program.

On to the results! The Kindergarten through 2nd Grade section was led by Sofia Campos-Seligman with a near-perfect 4.5 out of 5.0. Just behind was Sydney Lewis who drew with Sofia in the final round and ended up with 4.0 points. Also at 4.0 were Vicky Parker and Alisha Chawla. Both Sydney and
Alisha are in kindergarten so we look for them to do well in our tournaments for many years to come. Rounding out the top five was Ruby Humphrey in clear fifth place with 3.5 points.

The 3rd Grade through 8th Grade section was even closer. Divya Natesan won with a perfect 4.0 score but another six girls had three points. Based on tiebreaker order, they were Natalie Baldacci in 2nd place, Maral Bat-amgalan in 3rd, Julia Rosenberg in 4th, Claire Wong in 5th. Casey Everitt and Natalie Cool rounded out the 3.0s and won trophies for best in their grades. For the complete list of overall winners and grade level winners, see below.

Once again, we would like to thank Soroptomist International of Oakland for its continuing support of this very important event.
