7th Annual BCS Walnut Creek Area Tournament
Coyote Creek Ekes Out Win Over Rival Glorietta
May 2006

A record 164 children from 41 schools competed at the 7th Annual BCS Walnut Creek Area Elementary School tournament. When the dust settled we had a tie between the same two powerhouses at the top last year, Glorietta and Coyote Creek. After the sixth and final round, both schools had twenty points. Who would get the first place trophies? To break the tie we had to delve deep into tiebreak procedures and it favored Coyote Creek. So Coyote Creek held onto its crown with Glorietta just a hair behind!

Bobby Veres of Glorietta led everyone with a perfect 6.0 score, defeating Coyote Creek's Roland Zhu in the final round. Roland finished with 5.0, as did two of his teammates Andrew Chen and Daniel Chen. (For a list of all top scorers, see below.) Bobby not only walked off with the perfect score trophy but also won the Best Game Trophy for one of his wins. Guy Raber and Kevin Zheng each had 5.0 for Glorietta.

Walnut Grove elementary came in third. New BCS schools Palmer, Donlon, and San Ramon Valley Christian Academy had terrific turnouts, and did very well, finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth!
