Soroptimist International of Oakland Provides Support
for October All Girls Tournament
Photos

Two days before Halloween, 45 girls attended the latest BCS All Girls chess tournament. They brought their best "tricks" and were rewarded with plenty of "treats." The winners got big trophies and everyone took home a medal for playing all four games.

There were many new names among the leaders but just like last time, Apoorva Rangan was on top of the upper division with a perfect 4-0 score. It wasn't easy, as along the way she defeated the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best players!

Miranda Christ was the winner of the lower division, also with a perfect score. Finishing just behind her was Claire Wong with 3.5 points. Casey Everitt was third with 3.0 points, finishing ahead of Francesca Pemberton and Lorna Louise McElrath on tiebreak points. Those two girls also had 3.0 points but had to settle for first place third grade and second grade, respectively.

For a list of all the winners, please check below.

Once again, we would like to thank Soroptomist International of Oakland for its continuing support of this event.
