BCS Walnut Creek Tournament 2005:
Watch Out for Coyote Creek - and those kindergarteners!
April 2005

Remember last year when we said of Coyote Creek, "Perhaps next year they'll be the champs"? That wasn't an official prediction, but we are happy to report that Coyote Creek Elementary of San Ramon cruised to a win at this year's event with an amazing 21 points. Their team was so strong that if their second four strongest players were a separate team, that group might've come in second place!

Scoring a sterling 17 points for this year's second place was the Tri Valley Homeschoolers team. Lately they've been taking our Friday night classes from National Master Roger Poehlmann. In third place came last year's champs, Glorietta Elementary from Orinda. They scored a very respectable 16 points. Dorris-Eaton of Walnut Creek bounced back from a ninth-place finish last year to win clear fourth place this year. Considering their points were all scored by kids in kindergarten and first grade, look out for them next year!

Overall, we had 99 students from 31 schools competing. The only perfect score was Gabriel Lee, of Coyote Creek with six points. Charles Lee of Coyote Creek won the best game trophy. See you next year!
