Are you looking for a chess camp that offers CHALLENGE, EXCITEMENT, THE CHANCE TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS, and FUN? The Berkeley Chess School chess camp is it! Full day and half day schedules are available. New this year, we are partnering with Aloha Mind Math, and will have the option to take math camp in the mornings. Camp will be held at our new building for the following dates:
Week 1- June 18-22
Week 2- June 25-29 GM Shankland (US Champion!) teaches advance group!
No camp 1st week of July
Week 3- July 9-13
Week 4- July 16- July 20
Week 5- July 23-27th
Week 6- July 30-August 3
Week 7- August 6-10
We offer an afternoon intensive chess camp from 1:00-5:00, and the option of an all day camp, which includes sports and games in the morning, combined with chess camp in the afternoon. The full day option is from 9:00-5:00.
The program includes chess instruction at multiple levels for those entering grades 1-12. All campers must know how the pieces move and have an enthusiasm for chess (complete beginners can join the first 2 weeks only, see info below). Emphasis is on the joy of the game but with a serious eye to the student’s progress. New material will be presented each week of camp.
We offer a camp for beginners for the first 2-weeks of camp only: June 18-22 and June 25-29. This camp introduces the absolute basics to campers. Children will learn the names of the chess pieces, where they are placed on the board, and how they move.
The Berkeley Chess School Dublin Camp has two levels: Beginner/Intermediate and Advanced.
Week 1- July 2-6th (No camp July 4th, 4 day camp week)
Week 2- July 9-13th
We also offer summer chess camps in Bencia, Burlingame, Concord, Hercules, Lafayette, Orinda, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and UC Village in Albany. All of these camps, except Albany, are sponsored by each city’s recreation department, which also takes the registrations. For more information on these regional camps, click here.
