Competition was fierce, with many of our top players participating.

After the four rounds, only one kept a perfect score: Callaghan McCarty-Snead.
This wasn’t too much of a surprise, as he was the highest rated player. Callaghan is also this year’s State Champion in grades 1-3, and has qualified to represent the United States at the World Youth Chess Championship in Dubai in December!

The philosophy of the Berkeley Chess School is embodied in its Berkeley Bishops team where emphasis is placed on competing and good sportsmanship.

Over the years we have had many memorable matches against other teams from the Bay Area, Southern California, and even Ireland! Special practices are also held regularly, with guest lecturers frequently invited.

We have ordered special T-shirts for everyone, and will distribute them when they arrive. The next Bishops practice will be held on Sunday, December 8th from 1-3 at Hillside School in Berkeley, with National Master Sandy He as the guest lecturer! Cost is $20 and please RSVP to Marc@berkeleychessschool.org We also have matches lined up against perennial powerhouse Mission San Jose of Fremont and the Tracy Chess Club and will invite everyone once dates are finalized.

We would like to especially thank our wonderful volunteers Ariuntuul Avirmed, Tuya Lkhagvasuren, Goo Gormaa, Amarjit Sidhu, Baowang Li, and Brennan Maclean for helping to make the event such a success!
